When I'm not behind the camera, you will find me sipping on an iced coffee and spending time with my husband, Wade, and our fur baby, Myla! I'm definitely an adventurer and will never turn down a chance to travel!
I began receiving messages like, "Hey! I would like to book you for my prom pictures!" or "How much do you charge for a shoot?". WHAT?! My mind was blown. Someone wants ME to take their pictures?! I barely even knew how to operate a camera!
I began booking more and more clients as time went on, I even landed my first wedding in the fall of 2019 which absolutely floored me. The more I shot, the more I began to learn and love this new hobby/business I was establishing. Before I knew it, I was booking clients almost every weekend and creating something so special to me.
By the Spring of 2021, my photography business had grown TREMENDOUSLY. I had Weddings booked all throughout the fall months, Seniors and Couples booked throughout the year and was starting to book for 2022. I was then faced with a very tough and difficult decision; Dentistry or Photography?..
"God. Please give me a sign." were words I used often when praying during that time. I loved my jobs, both of them, how could I choose?! The thought of leaving the dental office terrified me. I often thought, "What if people stop booking sessions with me?" or "How am I going to pay my bills?". But my heart was so passionate for photography. I knew if I wanted to continue doing it, I had to be All In or All Out.
But then one night, God spoke to me. I stumbled across the scripture Philippians 4:19, "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus." It was then I knew, God had my back and he would not let me fail. So what did I do? I leaped. I jumped. I took the biggest step of faith I ever had and left my job in dentistry.
As of August 2021, I am proud to say that I am a successful, full time photographer. I am shooting seniors, couples and weddings all over the state of Alabama and could not love my life any more. I am doing what God has called me to do and never plan on looking back. Being able to do what I love each and every day is the one of the biggest blessings God has given me and yet, he STILL continues to provide.
If you've made it this far, you're the real champ over here! I hope my story inspires you to take that leap of faith you've been contemplating. Life's too short to be comfortable, get out there. Move. Be brave. Try new things and just GO FOR IT. Live and love this life God has given you. You never know, the reward might be pretty great..
I graduated from Albertville High School in 2016 with the idea of attending college and pursuing a career in Elementary Education. During this time, I was gifted my first camera for Christmas. I was so excited to start making funny videos with my friends and taking high quality "instagram" photos. I attended Snead State Community College from the fall of 2016 through the spring of 2018 where I decided that teaching youngsters wasn't for me. I wanted something different, something exciting.
And that's when Dentistry came to mind. How cool would it be to work in peoples mouths all day?!..(Some might disagree). I was accepted into the Wallace State Dental Assisting Program, graduated in the Summer of 2019 and then landed my first job at my dream office! Life was GREAT!!
During this time, I began taking photos of my friends for fun. We would hop in the car and ride around until we found the most coolest location ever! After multiple fun photoshoots, I decided to create an instagram (@katelynmastersphotography) to showcase my work. After that first post, my life changed forever.
